Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a main
form of treatment used in traditional Chinese medicine. When performed,
sterile, thin needles are inserted into the body at specific points. However,
medical acupuncture differs slightly from the traditional Chinese medicine
process by using low-frequency electrical stimulation on the needles, medical
acupuncture points include those typically utilized in the Chinese approach, as
well as those that are scientifically proven to anatomically and neurologically
link to a primary pain source. This can alter the neuroendocrine response of
the body, resulting in total relaxation and well-being.
