Duties and responsibility: A dentist teaches preventative measures for preserving and protecting a patient's oral health. She teaches a patient how to recognize the warning signs of disease, brush his teeth effectively, and change his diet to reduce enamel wear and strengthen enamel and underlying jawbones.

Salary: dentists are very well compensated for the services they provide. According to the BLS, dentists earned a median salary of $146,340 in 2013. The best-paid earned more than $187,999, while the lowest-paid earned less than $72,240.

Education: Dentists are licensed professionals who provide oral health care and preventative treatment to patients. Those who have a private practice also supervise the administrative parts of the business, including the accounting, personnel and facilities.

Summary: I would not like to be a dentist because I do not feel comfortable looking into someone’s mouth.
