this quote is referring to your reputation. By this coach k meant that a good reputation was better than anything else in life because if you have a good reputation you would be respected by many people and you will always be remembered no matter what. for example, if you were always known to be kind and respectful to people that reputation will follow you no matter where you go, and if it follows you everywhere people will know about you and the way you are. If you have a bad reputation and you are known for doing bad things for example drugs,alcohol, etc people will not want to be around you. that is why it is always important to have a good name/reputation.
